MINUTES of the November 9, 2011 meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees.



ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  Austine Stitt, Barbara Reid, John Wilkinson, Elissa Taylor, Judy Wrigley, Jim Moran, and County Librarian Kathy Chandler.  Judi Harris was absent. 

 MINUTES:  Austine Stitt moved that the minutes of the October 12, 2011 meeting be approved.  Jim Moran seconded the motion.  The motion carried unanimously. 



PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.



LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:  

-Kathy Chandler provided Friends of the Library Expenditure Summaries for 2010 and 2011.



OLD BUSINESS: 

-Public Outreach Consultant:  It turns out that Nina Eisenstat does not need to obtain liability insurance.  It was a misunderstanding that the County would require it.  The agreement with her has been signed and she will be able to begin on the Library project.

-Library Expansion:  Willis Pember, Suzanne Jackson, and Kathy Chandler met with the City Parks Department to review their proposed plans for the plaza.  Suzanne and Kathy attended a meeting with City Council where the Parks Dept presented their proposed plan.  Kathy also met with the Board of County Commissioners to provide them with an update on library activities and how they relate to the County's new strategic plan. 

-2012 Budget Changes:  Since income from the library mill levy is not as high as expected, some changes were made to the budget.  The budget is balanced for the coming five years.  Kathy Chandler met with the BOCC to discuss the changes and approve the budget.

NEW BUSINESS:

-Update Library Mission Statement:  the library staff will continue to work on revisions to the Mission Statement.

-County Librarian Job Performance Review:  the Board completed Job Performance Reviews for County Librarian, Kathy Chandler.

January 4, 2012

February 15, 2012



ADJOURNMENT:  On motion of Austine Stitt, seconded by Elissa Taylor, the Board voted unanimously to adjourn.
