Library Board Meeting

Next Meeting:  July 2, 2014 Noon Clocktower

MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on June  4, 2014.  The meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL:  Trustees in attendance:  John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid, Austine Stitt, Jim Moran, Judy Wrigley and Judi Harris as well as County Librarian Kathy Chandler.  Also in attendance were Jodi Smith, John Kelleher, Jim Curtis, Pam Hopkins, Mike Davis, and Shane Hass.  

PUBLIC COMMENT:   There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  A motion was made by Barbara Reid to approve the minutes of the Board meeting on May 14, 2014.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS: Mike Davis and Shane Hass of FCI Constructors, Inc., gave the Board an update on the cost estimates for the addition and renovation of the Library.Jodi Smith told the Board that the County will begin work right away to repair the leaking roof on the existing building.

Pam Hopkins gave an update and answered questions on the exterior plan for the addition.  Pam and Jim Curtis estimated that the first phase of construction will be the demolition of the parking garage and will begin around August 20 and be in full working mode by mid-September.

The Board discussed the proposed budget for the addition and renovation and how it fits withinthe Library’s overall budget.  There was also discussion about the possibility of fund raising.

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Austine Stitt to adjourn the meeting at 2:07.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.
