MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PITKIN COUNTY LIBRARY BOARD OF

TRUSTEES ON OCTOBER 8, 2014.  The meeting was called to order at 12:09.

ROLL CALL:  Trustees in attendance:  Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid, Jim Moran, John Wilkinson, Austine Stitt, Judy Wrigley, and Judi Harris.  Also in attendance:  County Librarian Kathy Chandler, Assistant County Librarian Jocelyn Durrance, Jim Curtis, Jodi Smith, Judy Clausen and Michael Campbell.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  A motion was made by Austine Stitt to approve the minutes of the meeting on October 8, 2014.  The motion was seconded by Jim Moran and passed unanimously.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  Kathy announced that the library has received a donation of $1,762,132.64 from an anonymous donor and has also received a signed pledge of $2,000,000 from another anonymous donor.

FUNDRAISING:  Judy Clausen, fundraising coordinator, along with several staff members, has been working on a website redesign with information on the renovation and expansion including answers to frequently asked questions.  The website will provide the ability to donate online.  

Jim Curtis will present a more complete estimate of the cost of the expansion and renovation at the next meeting so that the Board can determine a goal for the fundraising campaign.

ROOF REPAIR:  Jodi Smith reported that the roof repair should be complete by Monday.  A 200 square foot area of the roof had more damage than expected so it was patched and will be properly replaced during construction.

RENOVATION AND ADDITION UPDATE:  Kathy presented the latest iteration of the floor plans.  The Board had questions and suggestions about the plan.  The building committee will continue to revise and fine tune the plan.

BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR 2015:  After discussion, a motion was made by Jim Moran to adopt the proposed budget.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.

December 7, 2014-Holiday party 6pm

December 10, 2014-11:30 to 2:30

January 14, 2014-11:30 to 2:30

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Barbara Smith to adjourn the meeting at 2:25.  The motion was seconded by Jim Moran and passed unanimously.
