MINUTES of the special meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on February 27, 2013. Meeting was called to order at 10:04.



ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  Barbara Reid, Barbara Smith, John Wilkinson, Jim Moran, Judi Harris.  County Librarian, Kathy Chandler, and Jack Wheeler were also present. Austine Stitt and Judy Wrigley were unable to attend the specially scheduled meeting.



PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.



Kathy reported that she, Jim Moran, John Wilkinson, and Barbara Reid met with John Ely, Pitkin County Attorney, to review the status of the library’s easement. He determined that the easement is 44 feet from the east side of the building within the width of the building.



Jodi Smith, County Facilities Manager, suggested that the library use Jack Wheeler as project manager for the library’s expansion plans.  Jack is a project manager for Pitkin County.  The board agreed.



Jack Wheeler feels that since there is no base support at 44 feet, it would be more expensive and much more disruptive to place pillars at 44 feet instead of placing beams out to the 60 foot support.  He suggests that a construction agreement with the city is the best way to manage the placement of the 60 foot beams at the time of reconstruction of the garage roof.  County staff will continue to monitor plans for the redesign of the plaza.

ADJOURNMENT:  At 11:25 Barbara Smith made a motion to adjourn.  John Wilkinson seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
