MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on February 13, 2013.  The meeting was called to order at 12:04 p.m.



ROLL CALL:    Trustees present:  John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid, Judy Wrigley, Jim Moran and Judi Harris.  Austine Stitt was not present. County Librarian Kathy Chandler was also present.



PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.



LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  Kathy met with Brian Wells of Crystal Springs Builders and also Willis Pember to ask for advice on steps needed to get price estimates for various possible construction scenarios to enable the library to build on its easement at some future date and to determine if it is advantageous to install structural supports at the time the garage repair is underway.  Willis is expected to have some answers for the board at the meeting on February 20, 2013.



Tom Oken, Pitkin County Treasurer, presented a review of the Pitkin County Library capital fund and its asset allocation. The fund currently has 18% invested in stocks. Tom recommended an allocation of about 20% in stocks with a 4 or 5 year projection.



A nominating committee for a new slate of officers was formed.  Judi Harris, Barbara Smith and Austine Stitt will serve on the committee.



An agenda for all board meetings will be posted in the front display case.



There was discussion about programs offered by the library and how to enhance and tailor those programs to the interests of members of the community.

April 3, 2013—12:30



ADJOURNMENT:  John Wilkinson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:37 p.m.  Barbara Smith seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
