Library Board Minutes

Next Meeting:  March 11, 2015 Noon Library Meeting Room

MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on February 4, 2015.  The meeting was called to order  at 11:35 a.m.

ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid, Jim Moran,  Austine Stitt, Judy Wrigley and Judi Harris.  Library staff present were Kathy Chandler and Jocelyn Durrance.  Also present were Judy Clauson, John Keleher, Jodi Smith, David Detwilerand Michael Campbell.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  A motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by Barbara Smith to approve the minutes of the meeting of January 14, 2015.  The motion passed unanimously.

POSTNG OF BOARD MEETING AGENDAS:  A motion was made by Jim Moran and seconded by Barbara Reid to designate the library front display case as the place where meeting agendas are officially posted.  The motion passed unanimously.

PUBLIC OUTREACH ON CONSTRUCTION PROJECT:  Jocelyn Durrance reported that she and Martha Durgy have worked with Pat Bingham who is in charge of public relations for Pitkin County to produce a short video to let the public know about the future plans of the library.  The video is now complete and posted on the library’s website. There will be a meeting on February 5 at 4:00 with people who work in neighboring buildings and any interested public.  FCI will explain plans for alley access, parking, sound mitigation, etc.  Plans were made for the groundbreaking ceremony on February 17 at 4:00.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:  David Detwiler, project manager, reported that the permitting process is moving along.  David will review line by line the FCI construction bid as well as bids from subcontractors from the aspect of value engineering and cost reduction.  He will bring cost cutting items before the Board for decisions.  FCI will submit requests for funds on a monthly basis, which will also be reviewed by David.

May 13, 2015 noon

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by Barbara Smith toadjourn the meeting at 1:33 p.m.  The motion passed unanimously.
