MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on January 13,
2016. The meeting was called to order at 12:00.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Barbara Reid, Judy Wrigley, Barbara Smith,
John Keleher, Judi Harris and Austine Stitt. Also present: County Librarian Kathy Chandler and
owner’s representative, Dave Detwiler.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Judy Wrigley and seconded by Barbara
Smith to approve the minutes of the meeting on November 11, 2016. The motion passed
unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Dave Detwiler gave an update on the construction budget detailing the aspects of the
construction that are coming in over or under the estimates and listing the contingencies
remaining in the budget. One unexpected expense is a bid that is more than double the
anticipated pricing for reworking the library sidewalk along Mill Street. The County has
requested additional bids for the work.
Meeting Room Policies: Staff members have begun meetings to propose approaches to
managing the new public resources including the Community Meeting Room. A committee of
Board members consisting of Judy Wrigley, Barbara Smith and Judi Harris was appointed to
work with staff on these policies. The Board of County Commissioners has requested to use the
Community Meeting Room for their work sessions on Tuesdays and regular meetings every
other Wednesday during construction on the county building.

ADJOURNMENT: John Keleher moved that the meeting be adjourned at 1:45. Barbara Smith
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
