MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on April 13,
2016.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Keleher, Barbara Reid, Barbara Smith, Austine Stitt, John
Wilkinson and Judy Wrigley. Judi Harris was not present nor was County Librarian Kathy
Chandler.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Austine moved that the minutes be approved as submitted. Judy
Wrigley sseconded. The motion carried unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: There was no Librarian’s Report.
OLD BUSINESS:
Construction update: The crew is in the final stages with cleaning, AV equipment and
lighting installation, and outdoor prep.
Roof repairs will be dealt with in the Fall.
The movers are on site installing the shelving and books.
Library is getting bids for the final phase of the move from its temporary quarters at Old
Power Plant to newly expanded and refurbished Library towards the end of May.
Much depends on acquiring the Certificate of Occupancy.
Fundraising: Barbara Reid brought the Board up to speed on new prospects who are being
contacted.
Fundraising will go on through the summer. When the Library re-opens, there will be a
poster with the thermometer showing what has been raised and what is left to go.
Re-Opening: Open House is scheduled for June 19. Library won’t announce the date until
May, lest it be jinxed.
The Board is planning a walk-through(s) before June 19 for donors who have given $250 or
more.
Rachel Richards and Bill Stirling have agreed to speak at the June 19 festivities.

The Board left the Old Power Plant meeting room and went to the Library construction site for a
tour.
ADJOURNMENT: On motion of Barbara Smith, seconded by Judy Wrigley, the Board voted
unanimously to adjourn.
