MINUTES of the Regular Meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on
May 11, 2016
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: Barbara Reid, Barbara Smith, Austine Stitt, John Wilkinson and
Judy Wrigley. John Keleher and Judi Harris were not present. County Librarian Kathy Chandler
attended as did Collins Kelly and Jodi Smith.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Barbara Reid moved that the minutes be approved as submitted. Barbara Smith seconded.
The motion carried unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
Kathy updated the Board on the progress at the Library construction site.
Shelving is en route, and most of the furniture has arrived. MSR is in town and will place the
artwork with the staff. FCI will hang the pieces.
Craig Snowden has retired from Snowden Hopkins, our architectural firm.
FCI says the job is 99% completed.
The Old Power House site will close at 6 p.m. on June 3..
The expanded and remodeled Library will open at 2 pm on June 19 th .
OLD BUSINESS:
Fundraising:
Barbara Reid announced a gift of $250,000. to the fundraising campaign. Several other
gifts have arrived. There is about 4% left to go.
Preview tours for those who have donated $250. or more will take place on Tuesday,
May 17, and Thursday, May 19, at noon.
Fundraising will continue through the summer. Collins will create a poster showing the
progress of the campaign.
NEW BUSINESS:
Trustee Report -
John Wilkinson reported on his trip to Washington, DC, to attend the ALA legislative day
where library funding and e-mail privacy issues were on the agenda.

ADJOURNMENT: On motion of Barbara Smith, seconded by Judy Wrigley,
the Board voted unanimously to adjourn.
