Special Meeting
4:00 p. m.
MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on June 15,
2016. The meeting was called to order at 12:06.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: Barbara Reid, Barbara Smith, John Wilkinson, and Judi Harris.
Judy Wrigley, John Keleher and Austine Stitt were not present. Also present were County
Librarian Kathy Chandler and staff members Collins Kelly, Genevieve Smith, Martha Durgy,
and Susan Keenan. County Attorney John Ely consulted.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: John Wilkinson made a motion to approve the minutes as
submitted. Barbara Smith seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: The grand opening of the renovated library will be held at 2:00 p.m.
on Sunday, June 19.
John Wilkinson reported that final construction figures were $8 million for the addition and $6.4
million for the renovation for a total of $14.4 million.
NEW BUSINESS: The meeting room policy was read and then discussed paragraph by
paragraph. 14 changes and amendments were made. A motion was made by Judi Harris and
seconded by Barbara Smith that the meeting room policy be accepted with the changes and
amendments. The motion passed unanimously on first reading. Second reading will occur at the
special meeting on June 19.
FUNDRAISING: Barbara Reid reported that The Library is within 4% ($550,000) of its
fundraising goal.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Barbara Smith and seconded by Barbara Reid to
adjourn the meeting at 2:10. The motion passed unanimously.
