Library Board Minutes

Next Meeting:    May 13, 2015 Noon Library Meeting Room

MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on April 8, 2015.  The meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m.

ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  Barbara Reid, John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Barbara Smith and Judi Harris.  Library staff present were Kathy Chandler and Jocelyn Durrance. Also present were Jodi Smith, Judy Clausen, Pam Hopkins, Craig Snowdon, Dave Detwiler, and John Keleher.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  A motion was made by Judy Wrigley and seconded by Barbara Smith to approve the minutes of the meeting on March 11, 2015.  The motion passed unanimously.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  A tribute was made to board member, Jim Moran, who passed away on March 28.  Jim brought wise council and insight to the board and will be greatly missed.  A motion was made by Barbara Smith and seconded by Judi Harris to appoint Austine Stitt to replace Jim as vice president of the Library Board.  The motion passed unanimously.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:  The owner/architect/construction committee has been meeting to review costs and decide which parts of the renovation we will be able to complete within our budget.  Dave Detwiler suggested that it would be helpful for the Board to identify the components of the construction that are the top priorities.  FCI can give us costs on those elements and then we will know how much money we can spend on other elements.  The community meeting room addition is already committed and construction has begun.  Other top priorities are the children’s room, filling in the mezzanine and removing the center wall in the lower level.

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Judi Harris  and seconded by Barbara Smith to adjourn the meeting at 1:46.  The motion passed unanimously.
