MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on September 21,
2016. The meeting was called to order at 12:10.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid, Austine Stitt,
Judy Wrigley, John Keleher and Judi Harris. Kathy Chandler, Librarian, was also present.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Austine Stitt made a motion to approve the minutes of the meeting
on August 10, 2016. Barbara Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: Connie Baker of the Pitkin County Finance Department reported to
Kathy that the Library has not needed to borrow money from the County to complete the
addition and renovation and has enough money to pay for the $490,000 replacement of the
pitched roof with a surplus at the end of the year. These funds are a result of a combination of
reductions in scope of the construction project, inadvertent savings realized from delays in filling
open positions, and the releasing of all the contingencies in various lines of the construction
budget. The Board is awaiting a final accounting.
The fence has been installed around the children’s room amphitheater.
Martha Durgy has been working with Jon Busch on plans to show a series of films on weekend
evenings this winter. The Board is supportive of this program.

ADJOURNMENT: Austine Stitt made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:46. Barbara Smith
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
