MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on January 11,
2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:08 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Trustees Present: John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, John Keleher, Barbara Reid,
Judy Wrigley and Judi Harris. Austine Stitt was absent. Also present: Jodi Smith, County
Facilities Manager, Kathy Chandler, County Librarian, and Genevieve Smith and Martha Durgy,
Librarians. Representing the City of Aspen were Jack Wheeler, Jeff Pendarvis, and Rich Pavcek
of Charles Cunniff Architects.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Judy Wrigley made a motion that the minutes of the meeting on
November 2, 2016, be approved as submitted. The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and
passed unanimously.
ROOF UPDATE; Jodi Smith has been working with Pacific Sheet Metal and with the County
Attorney’s office to negotiate plans to finish the roof work. To work together for the best
possible product installation, the County has proposed that the installation will be completed by
March 11, 2017, at no additional cost to Pitkin County. All additional expenses will be incurred
by Pacific Sheet Metal.
CITY OFFICE BUILDING AT RIO GRANDE: Jack Wheeler, Jeff Pendarvis, and Rich Pavcek
presented proposed plans for the extension of the Rio Grande Plaza and the building’s orientation
to the plaza and to the Library. They also showed floor plans and elevations for the new
building.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF LIBRARY BOARD MEEETINGS: Motion was made by Judy
Wrigley and seconded by Barbara Smith to post notifications of Board Meetings in the front
display case on the main level.
PROMOTION OF JON BUSH FILM SERIES: Martha Durgy reported on attendance numbers
and on promotion that is currently being done. The Board suggested more signage in the
Library.

ADJOURNMENT: Motion was made by Barbara Reid and seconded by Judy Wrigley to
adjourn the meeting at 2:40 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
