MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on
February 8, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:07 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Trustees Present: John Wilkinson, Barbara Smith, Judy Wrigley, Barbara Reid,
John Keleher, and Judi Harris. Austine Stitt was absent. Also present: Kathy Chandler,
County Librarian, and Tom Oken of Pitkin County Finance Department.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Judy Wrigley made a motion that the minutes of the meeting on
January 11, 2017, be approved as submitted. The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith
and passed unanimously.
LONG RANGE PLAN FOR FINANCES: The Board discussed several major objectives to be
addressed in the coming years. Tom Oken will investigate possible strategies for long term
investment of Library funds and report to the Board at a future meeting.
BLACK OUT CURTAINS FOR THE COMMUNITY MEETING ROOM: The Board asked Kathy to
investigate possibilities for design and cost for the curtains.
APPOINTMENT OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Barbara Smith and Judy Wrigley were
appointed to be on the committee to nominate the slate of officers for the coming year.
ROOF UPDATE: John Keleher reported on the progress of the roof replacement. A portion
of the material already applied is defective and will have to be replaced before the project
can be completed.
POLICY ON CONTROVERSIAL MATERIALS: Discussion was tabled.

ADJOURNMENT: Motion was made by Judy Wrigley to adjourn the meeting at 1:43 p.m.
The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.
