MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees
on April 5, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:04.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Austine Stitt, Barbara Smith, Barbara Reid,
John Keleher, and Judi Harris. Judy Wrigley was absent. Also present: County Librarian Kathy
Chandler and library staff member Ginny Beesley.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A correction was made to the Minutes. The treasurer should have
been listed as Barbara Reid. Austine Stitt made a motion that the Minutes of the meeting on
March 8, 2017, be approved as corrected. The motion was seconded by Barbara Reid and passed
unanimously.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS: Barbara Reid suggested that we should consider putting simple
benches at the front entrance of the library. Kathy will investigate.
John Wilkinson showed the latest concept for the city office building and the effect on the view
from the library.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: The Board discussed and was in favor of creating two alternate
trustee positions. Kathy will make the suggestion to the BOCC.
Kathy will ask Adam Shuler of FCI for design and cost proposals for blackout curtains for the
Community Meeting Room.
NEW BUSINESS: Library Assistant Ginny Beesley talked to the Board about the work she does
at the library. Her duties include inventory and organization of books on shelves, managing the
book bike, After School Wednesdays, preschool programing and creating videos for the library
website.

ADJOURNMENT: Motion was made by Austine Stitt to adjourn the meeting at 1:25. The
motion was seconded by Barbara Reid and passed unanimously.
