Library Hot Picks Meeting Room
MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on June 14,
2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Barbara Reid, Judy Wrigley and Judi Harris.
John Keleher, Barbara Smith and Austine Stitt were absent. Also attending: Kathy Chandler,
Susan Keenan, Collins Kelly, Shannon Balona, Jodi Smith, and Lindsey Powell.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Barbara Reid made a motion to approve the Minutes of the
meeting on May 10, 2017, which was seconded by Judy Wrigley. The motion passed
unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:
OLD BUSINESS:
Park Benches: Susan Keenan researched benches and the Board decided to use one backless
bench and one with a back. Both benches will be 96” with redwood slats and bronze metal
supports. Lindsey Powell, County Facilities Manager, will handle ordering and installation.
Roof: Jodi Smith reported that Pacific Sheet Metal has been notified that it is necessary for FCI
to come back and repair any damage done to the roof installed by them for the addition and
renovation. Pacific Sheet Metal will be responsible for payment for these repairs.
Backout Curtains: Kathy suggested that we wait on installing the valance to see how the curtains
look. The Board agreed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Shade for Patio: Jodi Smith reported that a large triangular shade has been donated to the
County and will be installed on the outdoor patio.
Exhibit: Collins Kelly gave an overview of the “Working America” photographic exhibit now
displayed in the library. The exhibit is a cooperative effort with the Aspen Institute.
Job Responsibilities: Shannon Balona reported on her work as library assistant. Her duties
include materials handling, managing reservations for the Dunaway Meeting Room, managing
the book bike, assisting with programing and front desk duties.

Adjournment: A motion was made by Judy Wrigley to adjourn the meeting at 2:12 and seconded
by Judi Harris. The motion passed unanimously.
