MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on August 9, 2017. The meeting was called to order at 12:08.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Austine Stitt, Barbara Reid, John Keleher, Barbara Smith and Judi Harris. Also attending: Kathy Chandler and Tom Oken, Pitkin County Treasurer. The Board welcomed our two new alternates, Elizabeth Nix and David Bentley.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Barbara Reid made a motion that the minutes of the meeting on May 17, 2017 be approved as submitted. Judy Wrigley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Austine Stitt made a motion that the minutes of the meeting on June 14, 2017, be approved as submitted. Barbara Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Barbara Smith made a motion that the minutes of the meeting on July 12, 2017, be approved as submitted. Austine Stitt seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS: Tom Oken presented two possible target portfolios for the Library’s capital reserve investment plan. A motion was made by Austine Stitt to approve Tom Oken’s recommendation that the Library use the Pitkin Very Conservative Target Portfolio with approximately 11% stocks with the stipulation that the asset allocation be revisited in case of a market correction. The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT AND TRUSTEE COMMENTS:
Umbrellas for the deck have been purchased by the Facilities Maintenance Department.
The contract for FCI to install the blackout curtains with a valance has been finalized.
Dave Gollon is working with the Aspen Music Festival to link their digitized recordings through our library catalog and Marmot.
2018 BUDGTET: Kathy presented the proposed budget for 2018. Austine Stitt made a motion to approve the budget as presented subject to adjustment after capital improvement expenses are reviewed by the County Facilities Manager. Judy Wrigley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT: John Keleher made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:27 pm. The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.
