MINUTES of the meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on January 10, 2018.  The meeting was called to order at 12:05

ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  John Wilkinson, Barbara Reid, Barbara Smith, Austine Stitt and John Keleher.  Alternate board members Elizabeth Nix and David Bentley were also present. Trustee Judy Wrigley was absent.  Also attending were staff members Kathy Chandler and Molly Ireland.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  Austine Stitt made a motion to approve the Minutes of the November 8, 2017 meeeting.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.

Clint Kinney, Town Manager of Snowmass Village, advised the Library that they have chosen Grassroots and a media group to occupy Building 6 in the Snowmass Base Village. The parties agreed to work together in the future if it becomes possible to have a Library presence in the Snowmass Rec Center.

Austine Stitt made a motion to make the Dunaway Meeting Room available to the local bridge community one Saturday a month from January to August with the policy reevaluated after August.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Reid and passed unanimously.

The Library received a gift of $10,000 from a fund established by the father of Susan Welsch.  It will be used to purchase more browsing bins for picture books for the children’s room.

Molly Ireland described her duties at the library which include adult programing, working with groups such as MAA and Senior Center, Bike Book Programing, desk time, coordinating the café area and Interlibrary Loans.  She explained the difference between patron placed holds, which use Marmot and Prospector, and Interlibrary Loans,which use World Share and cast a much wider net. Books are transferred by currier when possible and by mail when necessary.

ADJOURNMENT:  Austine Stitt made a motion to adjournment at 1:22.  The motion was seconded by Barbara Smith and passed unanimously.
