Library Board Minutes

Next Meeting:  July 8, 2015 Noon Old Power House

MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on June 10, 2015.  

ROLL CALL:  Trustees present:  Barbara Reid, John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Austine Stitt and Judi Harris.  Barbara Smith was absent.  Also attending were County Librarian Kathy Chandler, Pitkin County Facilities Manager Jodi Smith, Owner’s Representative Dave Detwiler, John Keleher and Judy Clausen.

PUBLIC COMMENT:  There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  A motion was made by Judy Wrigley and seconded by Austine Stitt to approve the minutes of the May 13, 2015, meeting.  The motion passed unanimously.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT:  The Library is up and running in its temporary location at The Old Power House.  Thanks were given to Jodi Smith for all her work in finalizing leases and plans for temporary locations and for assisting in getting electrical and computer cables ready to receive equipment.  John Keleher was also thanked for making arrangements to store the Library’s collection of art works.

OLD BUSINESS:

UPDATE ON FUNDRAISING:  Judy Clausen reported that the spring fundraising newsletter has been mailed and she is working on a summer newsletter.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:  Dave Detwiler reported that we are waiting for a building permit revision because of some changes in the plans and that work is in progress for the foundation layers for the addition.

Dave Detwiler initiated a discussion on the amount of additional monies that will be owed to the architectural firm for additional redesign work.  A motion was made by John Wilkinson to authorize Pitkin County to negotiate with Snowden Hopkins Architectural Firm on behalf of the Library for additional fees up to but not exceeding $100,000 to include all past and current ongoing charges and the cost to redesign the renovation.  The motion was seconded  by Austine Stitt.  The motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS:  There was no new business.

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by Judi Harris to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed unanimously.
