MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on October 10, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 12:05.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Keleher, John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Judi Harris, and alternates David Bentley and Elizabeth Nix. Also attending was County Librarian Kathy Chandler.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Judy Wrigley and seconded by Judi Harris to approve the Minutes of the Meeting on September 12, 2018. The motion was passed unanimously.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS: There were none.
OLD BUSINESS: John Wilkinson reported that he attended the CAL Award Luncheon in Loveland at which he was honored as Library Advocate of the Year. He said it was a good conference and that he would like to see a similar one held in the future on the Western Slope.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: The new library staff member Monique Rodriguez will type up the old Board of Trustees Minutes to digitize and store.
Kathy discussed the Gallagher Amendment and the fact that it will not have as much as an effect on the Library as on other places.
The new office equipment will be installed next week, and the Library will remain open to the public for services.
The latest version of the Budget was discussed. The Employee Housing Fund will be replenished. A motion was made by Judi Harris and seconded by Judy Wrigley to approve the Budget on Second Reading. The motion was passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS: Carol McArdell, the Assistant Director in charge of Technical Services and Circulation, gave a very informative Powerpoint presentation on the work she has been doing to upload the Aspen Hall of Fame videos to the catalog entries.
The annual Christmas Potluck will revert to the old tradition of requesting guests to bring appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, or dessert to the event.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by John Keleher and seconded by Judy Wrigley to adjourn the meeting at 1:00.
