MINUTES of the regular meeting of the PItkin County Library Board of Trustees on June 12, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 12:05p.m. in the Community Meeting Room.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Barbara Reid, and Judi Harris. Also attending were County Librarian Kathy Chandler and Assistant Director Carol McArdell.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The Board deferred approval until next month’s meeting.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS: Trustees discussed the death of Barbara Allen and our desire to do something meaningful in her memory in the Library. Barbara Reid commented on the importance of the Aspen Musical Festival digital archive. Further discussion ensued about the best way to seek support from the Music Festival. Short comments were made regarding Hoopla and Libby. Barbara Reid reminded us of the two movies to be shown in July about composers. The MAA will be sponsoring two concerts weekly this summer. John Wilkinson attended the Library State Advocacy Board last week and informed the Board that more funds were received from the Colorado State Legislature.
OLD BUSINESS: Barbara Reid expressed her concern about the Library’s lack of involvement up to this point in the planning process for the Rio Grande Plaza although we have expressed our interest in being included in the planning.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: Kathy Chandler thanked those Trustees who attended the May 29th City Construction Update meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Carol McArdell’s presentation is postponed to a future date.
