MINUTES of the regular meeting of the Pitkin County Library Board of Trustees on October 9, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 11:37 a.m.

ROLL CALL: Trustees present: Judy Wrigley, Judi Harris, John Keleher, John Wilkinson, Austine Stitt, and alternate member Elizabeth Nix. Also attending were County Librarian Kathy Chandler and Kathleen Wanatowicz and Mike Tunte from the City of Aspen. Trustees Barbara Reid and Barbara Smith were absent.

PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: A motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by Judi Harris to approve the Minutes of the Meeting on September 4, 2019. The motion was passed unanimously.

TRUSTEE COMMENTS: Judy Wrigley commended Genevieve Smith for her assistance in ordering ebooks. John Wilkinson mentioned the recent article in the Snowmass Village newspaper about the “Twig.” 

OLD BUSINESS: The totem on Barbara Allen’s property will remain there.

After discussion a motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by John Keleher to approve the Proposed Budget for 2020. The motion was passed unanimously.

LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: Ann Driggers, County Treasurer and Finance Director, informed us via email of the 10% increase in value of our assets since December 31, 20018.

NEW BUSINESS: The Board enjoyed a lovely barbecue hosted by the City of Aspen in the Plaza.

A small revision to the Community Room reservation policy was discussed. “Reservations may be requested up to 6 months in advance, but a minimum of 1 week prior to a proposed meeting time is required.” A motion was made by Judy Wrigley and seconded by Austine Stitt to approve this change on First Reading. The motion was passed unanimously.

Kathleen Wanatowicz introduced Mike Tunte, facilitator for the Design charette for the Rio Grande Plaza, and gave us a schedule for upcoming meetings we are welcome to attend. 

Kathy informed us that MacMillan is tightening up the ability of libraries to rent ebooks from them.

ADJOURNMENT:  A motion was made by John Keleher and seconded by Judi Harris to adjourn the meeting at 1:15 p.m.
