LIBRARIANS REPORT: Kathy provided updates regarding discussion at last meeting about PC
Library issuing a proclamation for intellectual freedom. Determined it is best to do through our
bylaws and to keep things as short and simple as possible. Kathy printed out bylaws and invites
board to review, particularly the sections on Library selection. Genevieve Smith on staff will be
in charge of policy review and Board members can provide her with feedback.
OLD BUSINESS: Kathy shared that we have received permission from Aspen Daily News
regarding the News Digitization Process.

issue. We are using funds from the Friends of Library to pay for this upgrade.
NEW BUSINESS: Shannon presented about the Committee of Odd Items and shared some of
the odd items the library has in its collection; including silhouette cutter, analog computer game,
robots, large game collection and more. John suggested including this information in newspaper
ads so public is aware.
Shannon shared about the Collection Development Department and has pulled several policies
nationally and found that all are on par with ours. Policy that it is important to ensure that under-
represented groups are represented is gaining national traction and we are on track with that.
