MINUTES of the regular meeting of the PItkin County Library Board of Trustees on July 8,
2020. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: John Wilkinson, Judy Wrigley, Austine Stitt, Barbara Smith,
Trustees John Keleher, Barbara Reid, and alternate Elizabeth Nix attended via Zoom. Also
attending were County Librarian Kathy Chandler and Library staff members Nathalie Crick,
Genevieve Smith, JB Bradley, Martha Durgy, Carol McArdell, and Susan Keenan.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Austine Stitt moved to approve the minutes of the June 10, 2020
meeting, and Barbara Smith seconded her motion which passed unanimously.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS: None.
OLD BUSINESS: After a brief discussion Judy Wrigley moved to approve a change to the
original motion to the ByLaws to Allow for Attending Remotely in the Event of an Emergency.
The three underlined words were added to the original motion: “In the event of a crisis that
makes it difficult or impossible for some Trustees or Alternates to attend a Board meeting in
person, if it is feasible to participate in the meeting by telephone or over the internet by
conference call, then those members will be allowed to join the meeting remotely to help
constitute a quorum and to vote on issues.” Austine Stitt seconded this motion. The motion
passed unanimously. Then Judi Harris moved to approve the second reading of this modified
motion, and Judy Wrigley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Librarian’s Report: Kathy Chandler provided a chronological report detailing the Library’s
actions since the beginning of the pandemic. She also shared that in February and March online
usage doubled and that the scanner and printer have been very popular in the Bil Dunaway
Community Room where the public can also sign up to use computers. Also, the Library may be
eligible to apply through the State Library for a $10,000 grant from the Federal government.
NEW BUSINESS: A discussion ensued about ideas pertaining to the reopening of the Library
Building for browsing collections by appointment.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Austine Stitt and seconded by Judi Harris to adjourn
the meeting at 1:08 p.m.
