MINUTES of the regular meeting of the PItkin County Library Board of Trustees on October 14,
2020. The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Trustees present: Barbara Smith, Austine Stitt, and John Wilkinson. John Keleher,
Judi Harris, Judy Wrigley, Barbara Reid, and Alternate Elizabeth Nix attended via Zoom. Also
attending were County Librarian Kathy Chandler and Library staff member Jordan Bacheldor.
PUBLIC COMMENT: There was no public comment.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Austine Stitt moved to approve the minutes of the September 9,
2020 meeting. Barbara Smith seconded her motion which passed unanimously.
TRUSTEE COMMENTS: Barbara Reid asked Kathy Chandler about the reopening of the
Library. Kathy reported that it has been proceeding well. Except for the Computer Lab, the
Library is not close to reaching the COVID 19 maximum capacity. Kathy explained how the
Library is complying with the regulations regarding employees who return to work after trips out
of town.
OLD BUSINESS: The Board and Kathy reviewed the proposed new Budget. Judi Harris moved
to approve the new Budget on Second Reading, and Austine Stitt seconded it. The motion passed
unanimously.
LIBRARIAN’S REPORT: Kathy Chandler suggested we officially cancel the Holiday Potluck
due to COVID 19. She also suggested that the Library adopt with one variation the same
schedule for holiday closures as the County. The variation is that the Library close at 6 p.m. on
Thanksgiving Eve. The new holiday schedule is:
Early Closures:
Thanksgiving Eve 6 p.m. Christmas Eve noon
New Year’s Eve 3 p.m.
Full day closures:
New Year’s Day Labor Day
Martin Luther King Day Veterans’ Day
Presidents’ Day Thanksgiving
Memorial Day Day after Thanksgiving
July 4 Christmas
Austine Stitt made a motion to accept the new Holiday Closures, and Barbara Smith seconded it.
The motion was passed unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS: John Wilkinson would like the County to explain their Administration Fees.
Kathy said spring would be a good time to review this. Discussion ensued regarding the
archiving of the MAA recordings. Further conversation about this will be deferred to 2021.
Kathy Chandler told the Board that she will have surgery on December 1, 2020. While she is
recuperating, she will work on Library matters at home. During this time Susan Keenan and
Carol McArdell will be handling the day to day operations.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Barbara Smith and seconded by Austine Stitt to
adjourn the meeting at 1:15 p.m. The motion was approved unanimously.
