Join us for an in-person livestream viewing party of the Aspen Words Literary Prize Awards Ceremony.
Since we can't all be in NYC to see who will win the 2022 Aspen Words Literary Prize, we'll have a party here instead! Gather in the Dunaway Community Room to delight in the evening’s most exciting aspects in real-time: a conversation with the five finalist authors led by Mary Louise Kelly, co-host of NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and the live announcement of the $35,000 prize winner.
Doors open 4:00pm, with the livestream beginning at 4:30pm.
Refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded for those who correctly guess the winning book.
Attendees also will have the opportunity to be the first to sign up for a free copy of the winning book, which will be the subject of this year’s 4th annual Community Read—a partnership between Pitkin County Library and Aspen Words.
All attendees will also receive a code for a one-month Audible Promotional Gift Membership, which includes unlimited access to the Audible Plus Catalog and one credit that can be used for any title available on Audible.
The finalists for the $35,000 Aspen Words Literary Prize, which honors a work of fiction that illuminates vital contemporary issues, are:
“The Arsonists’ City” by Hala Alyan
“The Final Revival of Opal & Nev” by Dawnie Walton
“The Five Wounds” by Kirstin Valdez Quade
“What Storm, What Thunder” by Myriam J. A. Chancy
“What Strange Paradise” by Omar El Akkad
