Film synopsis:
It’s 1947 and Bob Hoskins, a down-on-his-luck detective, is hired to find proof that Marvin Acme, a gag factory mogul and owner of Toontown, is playing hanky-panky with Jessica Rabbit, wife of superstar Roger Rabbit. When Acme is found murdered all fingers point to Roger. This clever mix of traditional animation (there were 85,000 paint and ink drawings) and live action was the culmination of the hybrid art form. At once an homage to the likes of Tex Avery, Chuck Jones and all the cartoon characters we’ve come to love, this may not be your typical Easter Bunny romp but it’s just what we need in these troubling times. “Imagine watching cartoon characters and relating to them as if they were flesh-and-blood instead of paint-and-ink. This is the slap-happy effect of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and - please - a 24-carrot salute to director Robert Zemeckis.” - Philadelphia. Enquirer. Winner of 3 Academy Awards. (USA 1988). 104 min. PG
