Support the 2024 Summer Reading Program in a fun and creative way. Join us for the Teen Art Show! We will kick the event off with a special opening night for everyone, and then display all the amazing artwork in the library until August 9th. Teens, do not miss out on this chance to showcase your artistic talent and contribute to a great cause!
Important Dates
- May 31 at 6pm: Submissions are due.
- June 7: Artwork is chosen, and applicants will be contacted before this date.
- June 22 at 7pm: Artwork must be brought to the Pitkin County Library before this date and time.
- June 26 at 5pm-7pm: Opening Night in the Dunaway Community Room.
- June 27: Artwork is displayed in the library.
- August 10 - August 16: Artwork must be picked up.
Opening Night
We will start off with an opening night on Wednesday, June 26, at 5pm-7pm in the Dunaway Community Room. All ages are welcome to view the artwork.
Submissions
- Artwork must be an original piece.
- One submission per artist.
- The artist must live within the Roaring Fork Valley and be 12-17 years old. High school students who are over the age of 17 will also be eligible.
- The piece must include the Summer Reading Program theme: Adventure.
- Accepted categories include collage, drawing, photography, videography without sound, fiber, mixed media, mosaic, oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, pastel, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramic.
- Please keep in mind that the artwork will be displayed in natural lighting.
- Two-dimensional artwork (except digital media) must be no larger than 30 inches x 30 inches.
- Three-dimensional artwork must have a base no larger than 10 inches x 10 inches and a height no taller than 20 inches.
- All submissions will be reviewed, but not all artwork may be chosen for the art show.
- The submission must have a clear photo of the artwork.
- The artist must provide a phone number or an email address to be contacted.
- All submissions are due on May 31 by 6pm.
- Artwork selected for the art show must be brought to the library before 6pm on June 22 or it will not be accepted.
- The artwork will not be sold through the library.
Picking Up Artwork
All art must be picked up from the library by 6pm on August 16 or the art will be donated to the local thrift store.
