Immigration and Refugee Stories
These resources highlight and explore books, videos, and movies about individuals, families, teens, and children who have left their countries for various reasons and have come to the United States or other countries to seek safety and a better life. Read, watch, listen, and learn from real and fictional stories of life as an immigrant, refugee, or from children of immigrants and refugees. Some non-fiction material included are books on the struggles, flaws, and potential solutions to the United States immigration and refugee system. The complete list includes kid, juvenile, young adult, and adult material and material in English and Spanish. We are also highlighting our community partners English in Action. English in Action connects native English speakers with non-native English speakers throughout the valley and helps to connect and build relationships in the community. Learn more here!
English in Action
English In Action is dedicated to helping immigrants learn English and develop the skills they need to pursue their dreams. They also bridge cultural divides and offer opportunities to celebrate and learn about the diverse community here. They are a nonprofit organization based in the Roaring Fork Valley of western Colorado and our partners working out of the Pitkin County Library and other libraries throughout the valley (English in Action About Us Page).
