Reading suggestions and decisions for the book club come from the American Library Association's list: Outstanding Books for the College Bound and Lifelong Learners 2019. According to ALA, this list is developed every 5 years as a tool for various audiences (students preparing for college, educators, librarians, and parents). It offers opportunities for independent reading and lifelong learning (Information from YALSA).
As the book club becomes more established, participants are encouraged to present their own book selections and it will be voted on amongst the group.
Books are free for all participants and provided by Pitkin County Library. The first book of the school year has been by chosen by the Young Adult Librarian, and all future titles will be chosen by participants.
