TRUSTEES COMMENTS & LIBRARIAN'S REPORT:

  • John reported that he stopped by the Salt Lake City Public Library and spent hours in the teen section amazed by the level of offerings and offered to connect PCL with the librarians in SLC on what is working for them.
  • John also thanked the board for volunteering their time on the board.
  • Audrey extended her compliments to Librarian Shannon for her running of the Banned Books Club.
  • Genevieve updated the board about presenting to the joint BOCC & SMV Town Council on the SMV Library Project. Both boards indicated they were in favor of the aspirational build over the smaller build option.
  • She also updated on the status of digitizing the Aspen Daily News for on-line searchability at www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org.
  • Genevieve then went over the Library Organizational Chart for the Board to understand. She explained that all staff are cross trained and that training a new staffer takes a minimum of two weeks for initial job orientation, and then about six months for cross training and specifics for the job.
  • Anna thanked Genevieve for the newsletter reminding patrons of how they can renew library cards.
